Q What's the process like the first time I come in for a tonic prescription?
A It generally follows an initial consultation and pulse diagnosis, constitution assessment, prescription design, and decoction, and the herbs are usually ready for pickup in about 7 to 10 days.
Detailed Answer
On your first visit, you'll have about a 20-30 minute consultation with the Korean Medicine doctor. Your main symptoms, lifestyle, existing conditions, and current medications are reviewed, and pulse and tongue diagnosis are used to assess your constitution. Based on this, a prescription suited to the season and your constitution is designed, then compounded and decocted before you receive it as pouches or a liquid decoction.
Our Korean Medicine Clinic's Perspective
A standard prescription typically covers 4 weeks, and a brief follow-up consultation is sometimes offered after 2 weeks to check progress. If this is your first visit and feels unfamiliar, filling out the online pre-visit questionnaire beforehand can shorten your consultation time.
