Because the elderly have reduced kidney and liver function, we use prescriptions with reduced doses and minimized irritating herbs. For pregnant women, we exclude strong blood-activating (hwalhyeol) and diuretic herbs and compose the prescription only in the direction of replenishing blood and calming the fetus (bonhyeol-antae).
