Q What is the consultation like when I first come for postpartum care herbal medicine, and what should I prepare to bring?
A After checking in detail your delivery date and method, bleeding and lochia status, whether you are breastfeeding, and symptoms such as postpartum wind illness, we decide on herbal medicine suited to your recovery stage. Telling us your birth records and the medications you are taking makes the consultation more accurate.
Detailed Answer
At the first consultation, we check in detail your delivery date and method (vaginal birth or cesarean section), the amount of bleeding and the state of lochia, your sleep, diet, and stamina, whether you are breastfeeding, and whether you have postpartum wind illness symptoms such as coldness and pain. It helps to tell us about any iron supplements, painkillers, or other medications you are taking. Based on this, we determine whether now is the time to empty out blood stasis or to refill qi and blood, and decide on the prescription and care plan.
Korean Medicine Clinic Perspective
Even for the same postpartum period, the starting point of recovery differs depending on the delivery method, amount of bleeding, stamina, and presence of postpartum wind illness. At the first consultation, Dongjedang considers it important to fully grasp these differences, so that rather than addressing only the symptoms, we design a tailored plan for from which stage to restore the body's foundation depleted by childbirth.
