Q I take probiotics daily. If I take them with herbal medicine, will the effect drop or cause problems?
A Probiotics and herbal medicine are fine to take together. However, to avoid interfering with absorption, we usually advise spacing them 1–2 hours apart.
Detailed Answer
Probiotics help improve the gut environment and do not conflict with Korean medicine treatment. However, taking them all at once at the same time can affect each other's absorption, so we usually recommend taking them about 1–2 hours apart from the herbal medicine. Fiber supplements can be spaced in the same way.
Korean Medicine Clinic Perspective
If probiotics help, you may keep taking them. However, if probiotics alone don't resolve constipation, there is likely another cause such as a bowel motility or pelvic coordination problem. When Korean medicine treatment addresses that part together, the effect of probiotics also appears better.
