Q I take thyroid medication and an antidepressant. Can I take herbal medicine alongside them?
A In most cases yes, but you must tell us everything you are taking. Thyroid medication is sensitive to absorption, so we advise leaving a sufficient gap. Do not stop existing medication on your own; adjustments are discussed with the prescriber.
Detailed Answer
We are especially careful with sleeping tablets and anti-anxiety medication, since stopping suddenly can destabilise symptoms considerably. Telling us about supplements and health foods you take avoids duplication. Please also tell us whenever a medication changes or is added.
Korean Medicine Clinic Perspective
Bringing the exact names and dosing times to your visit is the most accurate approach. As the fatigue recovers, we summarise your progress so you can discuss reducing medication with the prescriber.
