It is ideal to finish 4–6 hours before bed; vigorous exercise right before sleep can stimulate the sympathetic nervous system and actually worsen symptoms. Lightly adding lower-limb stretches (holding the calf and back of the thigh for 15–20 seconds) as a pre-bed routine is helpful.
